- The Soros-funded Texas Majority PAC has teamed with the Texas Democratic Party for an initiative called “Blue Texas”
- Soros and political committees associated with him spent over $14 million in Texas during the 2024 election cycle
- Texans for Lawsuit Reform and its sister organization, the Judicial Fairness PAC, led the way in spending to assist Republicans in the 2024 general election, spending over $25.5 million
New York-based leftist megadonor George Soros appears to be gearing up to spend big in Texas once again in 2026 with the launch of the “Blue Texas” initiative by the Texas Democratic Party and the Soros-funded Texas Majority PAC.
According to campaign finance data from the Texas Ethics Commission, Soros personally donated over $10.6 million to Democratic Party organizations and left-wing political action committees in Texas during the 2024 election cycle, $6.45 million of which went to the Texas Majority PAC. Soros has also given the Texas Majority PAC at least $1 million so far this year.
In addition to Soros’ personal contributions, national political committees tied to Soros, such as Democracy PAC, Democracy PAC II, and AB PAC, also spent significant sums in Texas during the 2024 election cycle. Democracy PAC donated $200,000 to the Texas Democratic Party last year, while Democracy PAC II donated $750,000 to the Texas Majority PAC and $600,000 to the First Tuesday PAC during the 2024 election cycle. AB PAC donated $2.175 million to the Texas Majority PAC last year.
These figures likely only reflect a portion of Soros’ spending to influence elections in Texas, as he is widely known to be a major donor to a variety of leftist non-profit organizations that are not required to disclose contributions.
On its website, Blue Texas discusses how it aims to build on the massive investments from the 2024 election to continue developing the political infrastructure necessary to elect Democrats in Texas.
“In 2024, Blue Texas partners collectively spent more than $30 million, knocked on more than 2 million doors, made more than 8 million calls, and wrote more than 500,000 letters. This cycle, we will spend more money and contact more Texans. Together, we’re building long-term Democratic power in Texas by investing in the people, data, and organizing that will win elections now and in the future,” says Blue Texas.
In a statement announcing the launch of Blue Texas, leaders from the Texas Majority PAC and the Texas Democratic Party expressed their belief that Democrats could be competitive in Texas next year.
“We’re building on years of work to run the largest Democratic voter mobilization program in Texas history,” said Katherine Fischer, Director of Texas Majority PAC. “We’re combining deep experience, local leadership, and significant statewide investment to meet this moment. With Trump back in the White House and Ken Paxton dragging down the GOP ticket, we have a massive opportunity to win in 2026. Our efforts this cycle are aimed at winning in the short-term, and making Texas a true battleground state in the long term.”
In addition to the Texas Majority PAC, the First Tuesday PAC was one of the main political committees used by Soros and his allies to attack Republicans and support Democrats during the 2024 election cycle. As previously reported by The Texas Voice, the Texas Majority PAC was responsible for a multi-million dollar effort to aid Democrats in the 2024 election, including ad campaigns that used tag lines such as “Stop MAGA Republicans. Do Something Good. Vote For Every Democrat”, “MAGA Abortion Bans Kill Mothers,” and “Let’s Stop MAGA – Texas Mothers are Dying.”
Soros’ Democracy II PAC donated $600,000 to First Tuesday last year, with the Texas Majority PAC donating $310,000. Soros personally donated $100,000 to First Tuesday for the 2024 election cycle. Other major donors to First Tuesday include numerous personal injury trial lawyers and law firms, including several law firms associated with leaders of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association.
Although Soros and his personal injury trial lawyer allies spent big to “Stop MAGA Republicans,” conservative donors stepped up to deliver a successful election cycle for Texas Republicans last year.
An analysis of political spending published by The Texas Voice after the 2024 general election showed that Texans for Lawsuit Reform PAC and its sister organization, the Judicial Fairness PAC, led the way in spending to help Texas Republicans in the 2024 general election. Combined, the two groups spent over $25.5 million to counter the efforts bankrolled by Soros and personal injury trial lawyers aimed at turning Texas blue.
While the Texans United for a Conservative Majority PAC, which is funded mainly by Midland oilman Tim Dunn, took a particular interest in primary elections, spending over $7.5 million in Republican primaries and primary runoffs, the analysis showed that it spent just $1.1 million to support Republicans in the 2024 general election.
Meanwhile, the Republican Party of Texas – which only played a minimal role in efforts to defeat Democrats last year – has shown little indication that it plans to make any significant investments in political infrastructure for the 2026 election.
