Soros-Funded PAC Hires Wendy Davis

Texas Majority PAC Hires Failed Democrat Politician

  • The George Soros-funded Texas Majority PAC has hired former Texas State Senator Wendy Davis as a consultant
  • Davis, who served six years in the Texas Senate and is known for pro-abortion advocacy, ran failed campaigns for Governor in 2014 and Congress in 2020
  • Democrat personal injury trial lawyers Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin, who are now attempting to influence Republican Primaries, were major donors to Davis’ campaign against Greg Abbott

Wendy Davis, the former Texas State Senator who earned the moniker of “Abortion Barbie” for her outspoken pro-abortion views, has been hired as a consultant by a George Soros-funded political action committee that is working to elect Democrats in Texas.

According to campaign finance reports filed with the Texas Ethics Commission, the Texas Majority PAC has paid Davis’ business, Wendy Davis Consulting, $36,000 for “fundraising consulting” so far this year.

Texas Majority PAC made a $10,000 payment to Wendy Davis Consulting on April 28, 2025, and two $13,000 payments on June 13 and June 30, 2025. On her LinkedIn profile, Davis identifies herself as the “Principal” of Wendy Davis Consulting, which provides “fundraising and strategic advice to orgs and individuals seeking to support Democratic infrastructure and repro rights.”

Earlier this year, the Texas Majority PAC and the Texas Democratic Party launched an initiative called “Blue Texas,”which seeks to build Democratic Party infrastructure throughout Texas to elect Democrats to public office. During the 2024 election cycle, George Soros donated $6.45 million to the Texas Majority PAC, with other Soros-funded entities kicking in millions of dollars more. Soros also donated $1 million to the Texas Majority PAC earlier this year.

Davis, who served in the Texas Senate from 2009 until 2015, rose to prominence when she filibustered a pro-life bill during the 2013 legislative session. While Davis’ filibuster killed the bill temporarily, similar legislation was passed during a subsequent special session. Texas lawmakers have since passed additional measures that have been hailed as some of the strongest pro-life laws in the United States.

A newfound Democratic star, Davis ran for Governor in 2014 against Greg Abbott. Despite her national profile and strong fundraising, Abbott defeated Davis by more than 20 points. Among the notable financial supporters of Davis’ campaign for Governor were the Houston personal injury law firm Arnold & Itkin and its owners, Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin.

The Texas Victory Committee, which was associated with Davis’ campaign, reported receiving $8,889.75 from the Arnold & Itkin law firm in the form of in-kind contributions related to a campaign fundraising event. Kurt Arnold and Jason Itkin each personally contributed $20,000 to the Davis-connected Texas Victory Committee and $10,000 to Davis’ campaign.

The Texas Voice has reported that Democrats Arnold and Itkin are now attempting to position themselves as kingmakers in Republican Primaries through their newly-formed Texans for Truth and Liberty PAC. The Arnold & Itkin law firm donated $10 million to the Texans for Truth and Liberty PAC earlier this year.

Davis attempted to stage a political comeback in 2020, this time for the Congressional seat held by Republican Congressman Chip Roy. Although some political observers considered the district to be a swing seat, Roy defeated Davis by a margin of more than 6 points.

Since her failed political campaigns, Davis has remained active in pro-abortion advocacy. She is the founder of Defend the Frontline, an organization that provides “direct aid to individuals and organizations who are on the frontlines of providing access to abortion care who may be sued or indicted for helping pregnant people receive needed care in states where abortion remains legal.” Davis has also served as Senior Advisor to Planned Parenthood Texas Votes.
